Junior Laura Peterson received the Lion Award during the annual Finlandia University Fall Athletic Banquet Sunday, December 10.
The annual award recognizes a student-athlete for his or her dedication to the team during the season and who best represents and upholds the values of Finlandia University and its athletic program.
"Laura led the team in the setter position, but also off the court," said Lions Head Coach Victoria Huenink. "In 2005, Laura only played in 43 games, but this season played in every single game.”
Peterson, a 2004 LaSalle High School graduate, moved into the third place in Finlandia’s all-time career assist category. Eligibilitywise, she has two more years in volleyball. She also played basketball at the school as a freshman.
“Laura is a great asset to the program and her leadership on and off the court is invaluable,” said Coach Huenink.
