Trojans Perfect Going Into Christmas Break

Cedarville took a 4-0 overall record and 1-0 mark in the Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference (EUPC) into the Christmas break after defeating Engadine 80-54 in a league match-up Tuesday, December 19.

The Trojans will battle Harbor Springs in a tough non-league road contest Friday, December 29, to close out the 2006 portion of the schedule.

Cedarville took control in the first eight minutes with a 21-7 advantage and increased the lead to 40-23 at halftime with a 19-16 score in the second quarter.

Engadine held a 19-18-scoring edge in the third quarter for a 58- 42 score before C e d a r v i l l e closed out the c o n f e r e n c e contest with a 22-12 margin in the final period.

"Engadine never quit and is a good team," said Trojans Coach David Duncan. "I was pleased with our effort on the road. Engadine is a tough place to play."

"Cedarville is the best team we have played early in our schedule and maybe will be the strongest team during our schedule," said Eagles Coach Elmer Albright. "Unforced errors and missed shots inside the paint hurt. We must make those shots."

The Trojans made 23 of 32 free throws, while the Eagles connected on five of nine.

Trojans Stats: Justin Baker, 25 points, eight rebounds; Jason Duncan, 14 points, six rebounds; C.J. Paquin, 14 points, three steals; Jordan Duncan, eight steals, seven assists; Jordan Sweeney, nine points; Matt Hansen, six points, four rebounds; Kevin Thompson, two points; Jim Eberts, one point; Sheldon Tassier, four rebounds.

Eagles Stats: John Troyer, 15 points, 10 rebounds; Stefen Albright, 13 points, three assists, David Derusha, 12 points, six rebounds; Nathan Butkovich, four points, four rebounds, two steals; Grayson Hood, four points, three assists, two steals; Doug Fulton, two points, four rebounds, two steals; Michael Bennett and Joel VanHise, two points.

Cedarville plays at Harbor Springs Friday, December 29.
