David Rushford

David W. Rushford, 48, of Gwinn, was a United States Army veteran who enjoyed a career as a commercial painter. Mr. Rushford died suddenly Thursday, January 11, 2007, at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette.

He was born November 17, 1958, in Newberry to Lemia and Nancy (nee Brown) Rushford. He grew up in the Newberry area. Mr. Rushford served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge September 24, 1976.

Mr. Rushford was formerly employed as a commercial painter and had been a resident of Gwinn for the past five years. He enjoyed serving as a Salvation Army volunteer during the holidays and his interests included walking, biking, and spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren.

Mr. Rushford is survived by his children and their families, Tammy and Patrick Davis of McMillan, Chrissy Zarate of Gwinn, and David Jr. of Newberry, seven grandchildren, siblings and their families, Ed and Nora Rushford of Newberry, Chuck Rushford of Gwinn, Shirley and Clarence Brown of Engadine, Della and Mike Radcliff of Kentucky, Nancy and Rex Skea and Larry Rushford, all of Crystal, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Vicki, and two brothers, Marvin and Lemia.

A funeral was held Monday, January 15, at noon at Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry with the Reverend Patrick McNeill officiating.

Friends called at the funeral home Monday from 11 a.m. until noon. Inurnment took place at Forest Home Cemetery in Newberry.
