Panthers Post First EUPC Win
      The Pickford Panthers posted their first Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference win of the season with a 66-53 decision over the DeTour Raiders Friday, January 26. The Panthers outscored the Raiders 58-28 from the field, while the Raiders held a 25-8 advantage from the free throw line. Pickford scored 28 field goals, two treys, and made eight of 13 free throws.

Six Saints Wrestlers Place at Gaylord Invitational
      Six LaSalle High School wrestlers placed at the prestigious Northern Michigan Open Invitational in Gaylord Saturday, January 27. Seniors Derek Marshall (in the 171-pound weight division) and James Sayles (215-pound weight division) placed fourth with 3-2 records. Finishing fifth were Brandon Garries (119) with a 3-1 mark and Shawn Cowell (140) at 3- 2.

LaSalle Boys Bowling Team Wins Two, Girls Record One
      The St. Ignace boys bowling team improved to 6-1 on the season with victories over Gaylord Blue Devils' blue and gold teams. The Saints girls team stand 3-2 on the year after a win over Gaylord in Northern Michigan Bowling Association (NMBA) competition at Cheboygan Saturday, January 27.

Lakers Remain Unbeaten in NLL Basketball After Two Wins
      Mackinac Island Lakers remain undefeated in the Northern Light League after victories over Paradise, a 77-57 win Friday, January 26, and Munising Baptist, winning 62- 39 Tuesday, January 23. Steals Lift Lakers Over Rockets Wo o d y B e a r d s l e y scored 37 points, made 17 rebounds, and had eight of the team's record 25 steals to carry the Lakers over Paradise.

Free Throws Lift Comets To Win
      Mackinaw City outscored DeTour 17-9 from the free throw line and made 11 of 13 in the fourminute overtime period en route to a 55-46 non-conference win Tuesday, January 23. The Comets connected on 17 of 24 (71 percent) shooting from the free throw line, while the Raiders made nine of 20 (48 percent).

Firehawks Win Green Bay Hockey Tourney
      St. Ignace Firehawks won the Green Bay Hockey Tournament splitting their two games Saturday, January 20, and capturing the championship with a win Sunday, January 21. In the opening round, the Firehawks fell to New Trier 2-1 in the opener and defeated Cary Grove 7-6 to advance to the finals.
