A Snowmobile Poker Run is planned for Saturday, February 10, using snowmobile trails throughout the Eastern Upper Peninsula, beginning and ending in St. Ignace. Sponsored by the Straits Area Snowmobile Club, the event will offer prizes in return for the best assembled poker hand at a spaghetti dinner Saturday evening at the ride's ending point, the VFW Hall.

"We have stops in St. Ignace, Moran, Brevort, Epoufette, Rexton, Trout Lake, Cedarville, and Hessel," said Linda DeKeyser of the snowmobile club. "While there are 150 miles of trails to cover to make all of the 23 stops on the route, riders only have to make 10 of those stops to collect a fivecard poker hand. People can make as many of the stops as they wish, saving their best poker hand for the competition."

Poker hands will be called at the 6 p.m. dinner and prizes will include cash, motel room packages, and many gift certificates from area businesses, Ms. DeKeyser said. A mystery hand contest will offer a $200 prize to anyone whose hand matches five cards randomly drawn from a deck. The spaghetti dinner and prize party will be followed by disc jockey entertainment by Neil Hill.

The poker run is open to all snowmobile riders. Registration takes place at the Driftwood Restaurant in St. Ignace Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The $15 entry fee includes the dinner, and proceeds benefit trail maintenance projects of the snowmobile club.

Poker runs hosted by the club typically drawn between 70 and 150 participants, Ms. DeKeyser said, many from outside the area. The club has also planned a poker run for Saturday, March 10.
