June Cotton June Cotton June Syble Cotton of St. Ignace worked as a bookkeeper for the former Wing Motors on State Street in St. Ignace, and retired from working as a bookkeeper Mackinac Straits Long Term Care office in St. Ignace.

Mrs. Cotton was 86 when she died Friday, February 2, 2007, at Mackinac Straits Long Term Care Facility in St. Ignace.

She was born October 8, 1920, in Charlotte, to Arthur C. and Jesse Mae (nee Morris) Will, who were both of English descent.

She was graduated from Charlotte High School, and attended business school before marrying Franklin Cotton July 30, 1943. The Cottons moved to St. Ignace from Lansing in 1946, and Mr. Cotton managed a grocery store on State Street for many years. The Cottons also had cabins and a restaurant on US-2 for many years.

Mrs. Cotton was a life member of the Order of Eastern Stars and St. Ignace United Methodist Church, and United Methodist Women. She was known by family and friends as an avid reader, knitter, and great cook. Friends recall that her family was especially dear to her.

Mrs. Cotton is survived by a son and his family, Ron and Lana Cotton of St. Ignace; a daughter and her family, Cara Mason and Jeff Sword of St. Ignace; a sister, Fern Carter of Buffalo, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Barry, Steven, Sara, Jami, and Grace; eight greatgrandchildren, Ryan, Jeremiah, Matthew, Anthony, Jacob, Christian, Ethan, and Megan, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin, who died January 16, 1998, in Arizona, and by her brother, Robert Will.

A memorial service will be Friday, February 9, at 11 a.m., at United Methodist Church in St. Ignace. The Reverend James Balfour will officiate. A lunch will follow.

Memorial donations can be made to the United Methodist Church or Mackinac Straits Hospital Long Term Care Activities Department, both in St. Ignace. Donation envelopes are available from Dodson Funeral Home of St. Ignace, which made arrangements for the family.

Burial will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Chippewa County.
