Myrtle I. McKenzie, 67, of Gulliver, died February 1, 2007, at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette.

She was born May 27, 1939, in Manistique, the daughter of Martin and Mildred (nee Wood) Holmberg. She attended Manistique area schools.

On December 5, 1959, she married Antone "Tony" E. McKenzie in Carp River, where they lived for a time. Together they later lived and worked in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, moving to the Manistique area in 1998.

Mrs. McKenzie enjoyed craftwork, traveling, going to the casino, and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. Most important to her was the time she spent with her family, especially her husband and twin sister, Marie, friends said.

She is survived by her husband, Tony McKenzie of Gulliver; sisters and their families, Elva Jean and Robert Ammann of Plantation, Florida, and Marie and Aaron White of Manistique; a brother and his family, John "Jack" and Sharon Holmberg of Appleton, Wisconsin, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. McKenzie was preceded in death by her brothers, Martin "Bud" and Donald Holmberg; and her sister, Sally Ann Holmberg.

Visitation was held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, February 5, at the Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique. Services followed at 4 p.m., with Pastor Don Bedwell officiating.

Burial was at Fairview Cemetery in Manistique.
