Trojans Down Bulldogs in High-Scoring Game, 82-70

Jordan Duncan Cedarville Jordan Duncan Cedarville The Cedarville Trojans boys basketball team showed that a strong work ethic and discipline in each game does pay off, as it fended off the Rudyard Bulldogs 82- 70 for its 13th consecutive win of the season Tuesday, January 30.

"Rudyard played well," said Trojans Coach David Duncan after the non-conference game. "We must come ready to play each and every night. Winning on the road prepares us for tournament time."

During the high scoring game at the Harris Kahl Gymnasium in Rudyard, both teams scored 17 or more points in each quarter and both teams had four players in double figures.

Cedarville led 22-17 after the first eight minutes and held a 43- 36 lead at halftime with a 21-19 scoring edge in the second quarter.

In the past, the Trojans seem to put together a strong second half offensive run and ice each win, however, the Bulldogs kept threatening until Cedarville increased the margin to 62-53 with a 19-17 margin in the third quarter, closing out the non-league win with a 20- 17 score in the final period.

Cedarville scored 33 field goals, three treys, and shot 13 of 18 from the free throw line while Rudyard made 31 field goals, four triples, and made four of nine from the charity stripe.

Bulldogs Stats: Jeff Briggs, 28 points; Arik Hesselink and Dan Bartley (eight rebounds), 14 points; Craig Wallis, 11 points, seven r e b o u n d s Chastin Mc- Kelvie, three points.

Cedarville will travel to DeTour to face the Raiders Friday, February 9, and to Pickford Tuesday, February 13. Rudyard will entertain Sault Ste. Marie Friday, February 9, and travel to Newberry to face the Indians Tuesday, February 13.
