Volleyball Update

In the "battle of the bears," the Maplewood Baptist Black Bears defeated the Grand Marais Polar Bears 75-56 in a basketball game, while the Black Bears fell to the Polar Bears in volleyball 20-25, 25-22, losing games three and four (scores not available at press time).

Caleb Rader scored 22 points and Brad Shaw added 18 for Maplewood, while Becky Rader led Baptist Academy in blocks and Cherith Plesscher in aces.

The Black Bears and Polar Bears met Monday, January 29, in a rematch.

Black Bears Down Hawks

Maplewood Baptist Academy defeated Shalom Baptist of Detroit 52-35 Saturday, January 27.

One of the keys for the Black Bears was the 53 rebounds recorded in the win over the Hawks.

The Black Bears will compete in the Class D Districts to be held at DeTour the week of March 6-10.
