Thomas R. Saffian of Cheboygan managed a Clark fuel station for more than 20 years after moving to Cheboygan in 1969. Since 1997, he had been working at Historic Mill Creek in Mackinaw City, operated by Mackinac State Historic Parks.
Mr. Saffian died at age 61 Saturday, April 7, 2007, at his home, ending a short battle with cancer.
He was born March 6, 1946, in Wayne County, to Arthur and Beulah (nee Wickline) Saffian.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, snowplowing, and playing cards with his family and friends.
Mr. Saffian is survived by his son and his family, Tom and Dawn Saffian Jr. of St. Ignace; his daughter and her family, Tricia Saffian and Eric Morrow of Cheboygan; his step-son and his family, Christian and Lisa Spencley of Brighton; his step-daughter and her family, Heather and Jay Love of Rogers City; two brothers, Art Saffian of Westland and Paul and Teresa Saffian of Wisconsin; his sister, Cathy Saffian of Garden City; 10 grandchildren, Devon, Alicia, Victoria, Stefan, Logan, Elizabeth, Tyler, Paige, Eric II, and Caleb, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services were Wednesday, April 11, at 1 p.m. at the Christian Funeral Home in Cheboygan with the Reverend Tom Penner officiating. Visitation was Wednesday starting at 10 a.m., before the funeral.
