St. Ignace Wins Kiwanis Track Titles

      The St. Ignace boys and girls track and field teams outlasted nine opponents to capture the championship of the 22nd annual St. Ignace Kiwanis Track and Field Invitational Friday, May 4, in St. Ignace. The invitational was represented by five conferences, the Straits Area, Eastern Upper Peninsula, Northern Lights League, Mid Peninsula, and Ski Valley.

Saints Sting Mackinaw City in Baseball, Softball Doubleheaders

      The St. Ignace Saints girls softball and boys baseball teams swept the Mackinaw City Comets in non-conference doubleheaders Tuesday, May 1. Jamie Krug Fires One-Hitter Jamie Krug fired a five inning one-hitter in the Saints' 13-2 win over the Comets in the opener. St. Ignace scored one in the first, five in the third, two in the fourth and fifth, and three in the sixth.

Randi Johnson Picked for Gannon Assistant Coach Job

      Randi Johnson of St. Ignace, a part-time assistant coach at Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania, accepted a full-time position as assistant coach, announced by Head Coach Cleve Wright Tuesday, May 1. Johnson, a 2000 alumnus of LaSalle High School, led the Saints to a Class C state championship in 1999.

Saints Boys Win Newberry Quadrangular Track Meet
      St. Ignace boys track and field team finished first and the girls team placed second during the Newberry quadrangular track meet Thursday, April 26. The Saints tallied 90 points during the meet, followed by the host Indians with 63, Rudyard 52, and Gwinn 25.
