St. Ignace was a stop on the statewide Michigan Road Scholars tour made by 30 University ofMichigan faculty members Friday, May 4. The group visited Mackinac Fish Company to see theentrepreneurial efforts of owner Jill Bentgen and staff, had lunch at the Village Inn restaurant, andwere treated to copies of The St. Ignace News and Mackinac Island Town Crier, which some of themare displaying in the photograph. Faculty members from all disciplines of the university make thetrip by chartered bus to "get out and understand the history, culture, and economy of Michigan" tobetter relate to university students and their families, said guide Dana Sitzler. They visit highlightsof the state and had also visited the Soo Locks and Traverse City during the week-long trip.
