Four Drama Productions Planned for Soo Theater

Four drama productions are scheduled for stages in DeTour Village and Sault Ste. Marie this summer and fall.

Pickford's Karen Hughes will co-direct Mozart's opera "The Magic Flute" on the Soo Theater stage in Sault Ste. Marie June 28 through June 30. Ms. Hughes is an opera singer and instructor at the Sault Theater Arts Resource Studios (STARS). She has performed several times in Cedarville, DeTour, Pickford, and Sault Ste. Marie. Ms. Hughes is co-directing the production with Dianna George, the Sault Theater Arts Resource Studios dance director.

Dave Rhinard of DeTour Village will present "Tails of Twain," a revue of Mark Twain's life, work, and times in mid- September, at the Sacred Heart Church Hall in DeTour. A firm date and time will be announced later. Auditions for the show will be Monday, June 4, and Tuesday, June 5, at the Huron Street Inn in DeTour. People who want to audition should call (906) 297-5608 to schedule a time.

Mr. Rhinard will also direct a production of the musical "Annie" August 9 through August 12 at the Soo Theater in Sault Ste. Marie. Auditions wrapped up Sunday, April 15. Ms. George will coach the production's dancers.

The Eastern Upper Peninsula Fine Arts Council of DeTour recently finished auditions for the mystery comedy "Good Help is Hard to Murder." The cast of local performers directed by Peggy Burdett will perform August 17 through August 19, at Sacred Heart Church Hall in DeTour.
