Joe Brown, a sophomore at Ferris State University and a LaSalle High School alumnus, qualified for the Michigan Golf Tournament Saturday, May 19, with an 18-hole score of 78 at the Lansing Country Club.

The prestigious tournament will be held at the Grand Traverse Resort Bear and Wolverine Courses Monday, June 11, through Thursday, June 14, with player qualifying cuts being made after the first two days.

This is the first time that the former men's champion at the St. Ignace Golf Club qualified for the tourney.

He is the son of Ben and Claudette Brown of St. Ignace.
