113 Teams Compete in St. Ignace's Red Hacker
      The St. Ignace Sports Boosters hosted 113 teams from across the state during the annual Red Hacker Basketball Tournament held at the parking lots of the Little Bear East Arena and Community Center Saturday, July 14. An early morning rainstorm postponed the start of the tournament for an hour, and basketball action began at 9 a.m.

Road Race Benefits Athletic Programs at DeTour High
      The third annual DeTour Village 5k run Wednesday, July 4, drew 131 runners and raised $1,500 for the athletic program at DeTour High School. Bonnie Hughes, the organizer for the event this year, presented a check to David Miller, the school's athletic director, and Teryn Miller, an all-state cross country runner.

St. Ignace Youth Soccer Begins July 24
      Games for St. Ignace youth soccer will begin Tuesday, July 24, at the LaSalle High School field. Nineteen teams, with players ranging from ages four to 14, will participate in the six-week program. Eighteen teams played last year.

Curtis Hosts First Annual Tri-Lakes Triathlon August 11
      A Curtis Tri-Lakes Triathlon will take place Saturday, August 11, at 10 a.m. at Curtis Park in Curtis. The race check-in is from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. A mandatory meeting will take place at 9:30 a.m. A 5k walk/run will start at 10:05 a.m.

Newly Adopted DNR Fishing Regulations
      Department of Natural Resources fishing regulations are designed to enlist anglers and the bait industry as allies to slow the spread of fish diseases, particularly Viral Hemorrhagic Septicemia (VHS). The regulations went into effect Thursday, June 28.
