With the weekend festivities of the Mackinac Bridge anniversary behind us, it will be a pleasant one to recall. For most folks from the Upper Peninsula, it truly is a sight to behold: When the Big Mac is in sight, you know home is just over the span. What a great feeling.

Saturday, August 4, at the Hudson Township recreation park in Garnet, the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians Youth Pow Wow will begin, with the grand entry at noon. Area tribal youth will gather for the day. Everyone is welcome to join the youth at the park for the day.

Congratulations to Kris Masters and April Houghton on their wedding. The young couple greeted family and friends at the Garfield Township Hall Saturday, July 28. Among the guests were the bride's uncle, Ken "Jug" Hood and family of Mount Pleasant, the bride's aunt, the former Judy Ann Hood, and cousin, Bridget, and family. Bridget was the soloist at the wedding, and did a beautiful job. April is the daughter of Mike and Sally Houghton of Engadine.

Congratulations to Lester Livermore, Dave Livermore, Scott Livermore, and Mike Sheppard at their fine showing in the recent fundraiser golf tourney held at the Hiawatha Sportsman's Club in Naubinway.

Another summer session of Bible School at the Rexton Mennonite Church was concluded with the youngsters, who always compete boys against the girls, contributing a bucket full of change for the missionaries.

Don and Wilda Frederick attended the memorial service last weekend for Don's brother in lower Michigan.
