Sault Arts Fest To Open Aug. 7

The Sault Summer Arts Festival will open at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, on the grounds of the Tendercare of Michigan Headquarters, at 209 West Portage in Sault Ste. Marie.

Now in its 35th year, the festival features almost 70 exhibitors.

On display will be paintings, jewelry, wearable art, wooden kitchen implements, towel racks, birdhouses, furniture, blown and stained glass, pressed flowers, weaving, pottery, folk art, metal work, fur and leather items, portraits, books, and photographs. Bayliss Library will feature activities for children.

Entertainment begins at noon when the McKinney Washtub Two takes the stage. Performers to follow will through the afternoon will include Greg Jacobs, Annis George, Susan Askwith and Dave Stanaway, Frank Blisset, the Superior Poetry Cafe poets, Joe Menard, Jack Curry, and Lorne Hartwich, and Rolland Mayer, Stephanie Sabatine, Roy Nason, John Price, and Terry Bennet.
