Sherlund Makes Picnic Tables

Aaron Sherlund, 18, a 2007 Cedarville High School graduate, made and donated five handicapaccessible picnic tables to Cedar Cove Assisted Living center in Cedarville. He started making the tables while a senior student during the winter, and finished the last ones in July.

(Photograph courtesy of Cedar Cove Assisted Living) The tables are a charity project to help him attain the rank of Eagle Scout. He is working toward earning the award, the highest honor a Boy Scout can earn, by completing a number of requirements, including accumulating 21 merit badges and completing 12 additional enrichment projects to teach the scout about community service, personal fitness, family life, camping, and environmental science.

Troop 140 of Les Cheneaux Scoutmaster Dale Streichert passed the idea along to Mr. Sherlund.

His brother, Jeremy, helped him deliver the tables. Two were delivered in May, and three were delivered the last week of July. Aaron and Jeremy are the sons of Kathy and Marty Sherlund of Cedarville.
