Donations toward books for children can be dropped off at all First National Bank offices in St. Ignace, Cedarville, Mackinac Island, Naubinway, and Newberry.

The Eastern Upper Peninsula Intermediate School District, along with the Interagency Coordinating Council for Early Childhood Service, is sponsoring the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which provides books for young children through donations.

A $27 gift can provide 12 months of books for one child in Mackinac, Chippewa, and Luce counties. Donors may provide gifts for one or more children.

Participation in this program will lead to a greater ability to learn, growth in imagination, and better preparation for entering school, say coordinators.

Each donor will receive a free bookmark for his or her contribution.
