Kayla Miller Engadine The Engadine Eagles varsity volleyball team improved to 7-4-2 overall and 3-0 in the Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference with a sweep of the Pickford Panthers (25-18, 26- 24, 25-18) Thursday, September 20.
"This team continues to amaze me," said Eagles Head Coach Kathy Miller. "We were down 14-3 in the second match and the girls didn't lose their heads, and kept working together for a two-point win. The girls are doing everything I have asked of them."
Eagles stats: Shannon Browning, 11 of 11 in serving for 100%, one ace; Tristina Browning, 29 assists, five kills, three aces; Shauni Rutledge, 19 kills, one ace; Elisa Hobbs, six kills, one block kill; Lauren MacArthur, five kills; Jamie Maison, two kills, one ace; Kayla Miller, four kills, one ace.
Panthers stats: Melissa Kucharczyk, 12 assists, two aces; Veronica Morrison, four kills, one ace; Justine Hatfield, three kills, two aces; Courtney Bruni, five kills, two blocks.
Engadine will travel to DeTour to face the Raiders Thursday, September 27.

Maplewood Baptist Academy Black Bears swept the Mackinaw City Comets (25-10, 25-10, 25-20) Thursday, September 20, and fell to Northern Michigan Christian Academy (19-25, 25-14, 6-25, 29- 27, 12-15) Tuesday, September 18, during non-conference matches.

The Brimley Bays downed the DeTour Raiders (25-19, 25-21, 25- 11) during an Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference match Thursday, September 20.

Arial Leeper Mackinac Island Raiders Sweep Lakers
DeTour Raiders swept the Mackinac Island Lakers (25-21, 25-6, 25-20) during a non-conference match Tuesday, September 18.
Lakers stats: Morgan Brodeur- Bunker, seven points, two aces, eight good passes, five sets, two kills; Michi Mullings, three points, 10 good passes, two kills; Arial Leeper, three points, eight good passes; Danielle Wightman, three points, three aces, four kills, two blocks; Karlena Mosley, three points, 15 good passes, eight sets; Maria Bunker, two points, one ace, six good passes, two blocks; Shayleen Mosley, two points.
In the junior varsity game, the Raiders edged the Lakers 25-23.
The Lakers' Jane Finkel recorded five good passes and three digs and teammate Kate Dupre notched six sets, and six good passes.
