Eagles Drop MEFL Game to Rockets

Killian Frisch Killian Frisch Big plays played key roles as the Rapid River Rockets defeated the Engadine Eagles 37-6 during a Mid-Eastern Football League (MEFL) contest Friday, September 21.

"We gave up too many big plays," said Eagles Coach Howard Hood, whose team is 0-5 overall. "The players haven't quit, and that is all we can ask."

Rapid River (2-3 overall) led 14-0 in the second quarter before Phillip Hood scored the Eagles' only touchdown on a one-yard run.

Two plays later, however, the Rockets answered for a 22-6 halftime advantage. The visitors added two second-half touchdowns.

Eagles offense stats: Michael Mast, 17 carries for 76 yards; John Troyer, 12 carries for 59 yards; Phillip Hood, 15 carries for 33 yards, three of four passing for 26 yards; Michael Klobucher, three rec eptions for 26 yards; Joel VanHise, nine caries for 18 yards.

Engadine will host the Powers North Central Jets (3-2 overall) for the Eagles' homecoming game Friday, September 28.
