Walleye Jamboree Rescheduled

The Soo Area Sportsman's Club has called off the late January Walleye Jamboree, owing to warm weather that has not allowed adequate ice to form on Munuscong Bay, where the tournament is usually held.

The event has been rescheduled for Wednesday, February 21, through Sunday, February 25. Sportsman's Club members wanted to extend the tournament a few more days to give anglers more time to fish.

The Walleye Jamboree is planned every year for the last weekend of January, and was originally scheduled for Friday, January 26, through Sunday, January 28, this year.

The unseasonably warm weather has prevented good ice formation on Munuscong Bay, about eight miles northeast of Pickford. The bay typically is frozen over by now, and can support the weight of automobiles and the many shanties that cluster on the ice during the ice fishing season.
