Young Cheerleaders Advance to State Finals; Hold Can Drive

The Division Two St. Ignace Cheer America team will collect cans and bottles Saturday, January 13, to raise money for their trip to the Cheer America State Finals. The young cheerleaders and their families will collect the returnables from around the City of St. Ignace from noon to 4 p.m. Arrangements can be made to have bottles or cans picked up by calling Candy Massaway at 643-8164.

The finals will be in Grand Rapids Saturday, January 20, and will pit the St. Ignace team against other qualifying cheerleaders in the division. The Division Two team, coached by Stacy Nelson, includes Lydia Massaway, Hailey Dumas, and Sheridan Bigger, who each won a trophy and a first place blue ribbon at the regional competition at Inland Lakes Schools in Indian River Saturday, December 16.

The girls range from six to eight years old.
