Curtis Anderson

Curtis Anderson
Curtis Timothy Anderson, 78, of Drummond Island, was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who enjoyed a career working for the Drummond Dolomite Quarry. Mr. Anderson died Thursday, January 4, 2007, at his home.

He was born June 7, 1928, on Drummond Island to William Ottis and Ida Mae (nee Foreman) Anderson.

A lifelong island resident, he married his childhood sweetheart, Margaret Juanita Tolan, August 27, 1950.

Mr. Anderson served in the United States Marine Corps for two years. When he returned home, he worked for the county for two years and then went to work for the Drummond Dolomite Quarry, retiring in 1985. He has continued to keep busy working for his son's construction business.

Mr. Anderson was a member of the Drummond Island Lutheran Church, a Lifetime Charter Member of the Moose Lodge 2381, and a Charter Member of the Drummond Island Snowmobile Club. He served as the Drummond Island constable for several years. He enjoyed talking with people on the CB, where his handle was "Native Son."

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; two daughters and their families, Nancy Lee and Ralph Black of Drummond Island and Theresa and Lyle Kelley of Pickford; two sons, Steven Timothy and Aldeen Anderson and Randy Lee Anderson, all of Drummond Island; five grandchildren and their families, Ralph Curtis Black, April Lynn Black, Monica and Eric Gallentine, Brittney Kelley, and Jessica Anderson; and three great- grandchildren, Tyler Black, Lucas Gallentine, and Sebastian Gallentine. Also surviving are two nieces, Freida Robinson and Beverly Doerr, both of Drummond Island, and two nephews, Daniel Parish of Milford and William Parish of White Oak, Texas.

Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Louisa Mae LaPointe, Eileen Glyde Anderson, and Mercida Beryle Carey; and brother, Lyle Vernon Anderson.

Services were held Tuesday, January 9, at 1 p.m. at the Drummond Island Lutheran Church with Deacon Charles Krahnke officiating. Friends called at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

Burial will be in the Drummond Island Cemetery.

Reamer Galer Funeral Home of Pickford is serving the family.
