Frances Galarowic-Pesenski

Frances B. Galarowic-Pesenski of Sault Ste. Marie, formerly of Cedarville, worked for many years at the former Islington Hotel of Cedarville, and later was a member of the Senior Citizens Club. She died Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at Tendercare Nursing Home.

She was born in Goetzville March 4, 1908.

Mrs. Galarowic-Pesenski is survived by two daughters and their families, Audrey Gillett of Sault Ste. Marie and Suzanne and Leroy Harrison of Lennon, three sisters and their families, Mary Wahl of Stalwart, Dorothy Stec of Stalwart, and Effie Walker of El Paso, Texas, a brother, Frank Malkowski of Cedarville, and two sisters-in-law, Arloa Malkowski, and June Malkowski. She is survived by grandchildren and their families, Jim and Mila Gillett, Tim and Jinny Gillett, Sandi and Jeff King, Cindy Mangold, Jackie and Karl Detrich, Janalee and Pat Carley, Lori Riley, Vicki and Stanley Walker, and Kevin Harrison; greatgrandchildren Ray, Charlie, Tina, Andrea, Ryan, Tom, Matthew, Sarah, Debbie, Bruce, Michael, Sagia, and Jordan, and great-greatgrandchildren Elena and Leah, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Galarowic, her second husband, Frank Pesenski, an infant son, Eugene, a daughter, Rhoda Smith, two brothers, Tony Malkowski and Mike Malkowski, two sisters, Cora Fountain and Wanda Dutcher, and two sons-in-law, Ed Smith and Jesse Gillett.

Visitation took place Saturday, January 6, from 11 a.m. to noon in the Mary Room at St. Mary's ProCathedral Church, with a funeral following at noon. Father Ted Brodeur was the celebrant. Burial took place at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Mary's Building Fund or the charity of one's choice.
