Leo and Helmi (nee Peterson) Koivisto of Rudyard celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary December 24, 2006.

The couple was married December 24, 1941, in Sault Ste. Marie by Pastor Saarisuu at St. Johns Lutheran Church.

Mr. Koivisto's brother, Edward Koivisto, served as best man, and Irene (nee Nayback) Piippo served as maid of honor.

Mr. and Mrs. Koivisto have three children and their families, Ronald and Veronica Koivisto of New Boston, Eddy and Janet Koivisto of Rudyard, and Randy Koivisto of Denton, Texas. They also have six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Their anniversary was also celebrated at a coffee hour following a church service at St. James Lutheran Church in Rudyard December 24.
