Saints 8th Grade Team 6-5 on Season

St. Ignace eighth grade team stands 6-5 on the season after defeating Cedarville 51-46 Monday, December 18, and Cheboygan 43-34 Thursday, December 21, before falling to the Sault 53-35 Thursday, January 4.

The Saints held a 16-15 scoring edge at halftime before draining five three-point field goals in the second half to outscore the Trojans 35-31 for the victory.

Saints Stats: Gunnar Zipp, 16 points; Austin St. Louis, 14 points; Cole Christiansen, nine points, three triples; Caleb Litzner, seven points; Landon Marshall, three points; Justin Visnaw, two points.

St. Ignace trailed 16-11 at halftime against Cheboygan before playing a strong second half, that included a 32-18 offensive advantage to seal the win.

Saints Stats: Gunnar Zipp, 16 points; Austin St. Louis, 13 points; Cole Christiansen, five points; Landon Marshall, four points; Caleb Litzner, three points; Grant Simmons, two points.

"Good aggressive defense and unselfish passing contributed to the win," said Saints Coach Bob Brandstrom.

At the Sault, Austin St. Louis scored 20 and Gunnar Zipp added 13 points for the Saints.

In the seventh grade game, the Saints fell 57-20. John Eby scored 13 points for the Saints.
