DeTour, Engadine Drop Non-Conference Basketball Contests
Raiders Drop Non-League Contest to Black Bears

DeTour fell to 3-2 on the season after dropping a 54-45 non-conference contest to Big Bay de Noc Friday, January 5.

The visiting Black Bears led 19-11 after the first eight minutes and held an 11-10 scoring edge in the second quarter for a 30-21 halftime margin.

The Raiders were down by 15 in the third quarter and cut the deficit to four before falling by nine points.

"The team never quit," said Coach Craig Miller. "They continue to play hard, and that is all we can ask."

Raiders Stats: Nathan Klamerus, 15 points, eight rebounds, five assists; Craig Wasnich, 14 points, 15 rebounds; Andy Dyal, six points, three rebounds; Tom Worden, four points, three rebounds, three assists, three steals; Stan Stocking, three points, three rebounds; Tom Munro, three points, three assists.

DeTour added a home game to the schedule against Sir James Dunn of Ontario Monday, February 5.

DeTour lost the junior varsity game 54-32 as Josh Wilson scored 10 points and Teryn Miller chipped in eight for the Raiders.

Eagles Fall to Cougars

Senior David Derusha scored 23 points and hauled down 14 rebounds, but Engadine dropped a 62-57 non-conference decision to Superior Central Friday, January 5.

The visiting Cougars led 21-17 after the first eight minutes before the Eagles held a 12-11 scoring edge in the second quarter, for a 32-29 halftime score.

S u p e r i o r C e n t r a l increased the lead to 49-42 after three quarters with a 17-13 margin and the host Eagles completed the game with a 15-13 advantage.

"Overall, I was pleased with the way we played. We had our chances, but need to make the little changes," said Eagles Coach Elmer Albright.

Eagles Stats: David Derusha, 23 points, 14 rebounds; John Troyer, nine points; Grayson Hood, six points, seven rebounds; Stefen Albright, six points, six assists; Daron Emery, six points, two assists; Michael Bennett, three points; Chris Keller and Joel VanHise, two points.

The Eagles play at Brimley Friday, January 12, host Rapid River Tuesday, January 16, and travel to Cedarville Friday, January 19.
