Pee Wee Hockey Team To Play in International Tourney

The St. Ignace Pee Wee B hockey team is one of 16 teams competing in the International A/E Silver Stick Finals in Pelham, Ontario, Thursday, January 11, through Sunday, January 14.

Joining the Saints in the tournament from the United States are the New York City Cyclones, Tampa Bay Jr. Lightning, Sylvania, Ohio Maple Leafs, San Jose Jr. Sharks, Dallas All-Stars, Raleigh, North Carolina Renegades, and Duluth, Georgia Jr. Thrashers.

The Canadian teams are the host Pelham Panthers, East Gwillimbury Eagles, Lembeth Lancers, Acton Tanners, Lindsay Muskies, Crystal Lake Maple Leafs, Brampton Battalion, and Oakville Rangers.

The St. Ignace team, sponsored by Bay Pharmacy and Marshall Builders, will begin division play against Dallas Thursday, January 11, at 8:30 a.m. and Acton at 12:50 p.m. The team will play Friday, January 12, with Brampton at 8:10 a.m.

The Saints staff includes head coach Eric Danielson and assistant coaches Joe Damron, Doug Goudreau, Bob Sweeney, and Scott Winkelman, with players Ben Damron, Brennan Danielson, Martin Donajkowski, Chris Dumas, Joe Fullerton, James Goudreau, Ellis Graham, Zach Harrington, Ben Idalski, Ryan Marshall, Trevor Metz, Dane Mortensen, Patrick Sweeney, Curtis St. Louis, Cody Therrian, and Kyle Winkelman of St. Ignace and Christian Bradley of Kinross.

"The players and coaches are excited about the tournament and to represent the Michigan teams," said Coach Danielson. "The team and parents will be able to see part of North America, the Niagara Falls area, that we haven't seen."
