St. Ignace Race Registrations Filled

Organizers have announced that a navigation-based adventure race scheduled to begin in St. Ignace in May has already filled its capacity of 40 teams registered, and has opened five additional spots for teams judged to be qualified by the race director.

The four-day Michigan Expedition Adventure Race will take place across 300 miles of the Eastern Upper Peninsula, and will be based at the Quality Inn of St. Ignace from May 27 to June 2. It is expected to draw 160 to 180 people in experienced adventure race teams from around the country to participate in trekking, running, biking, paddling, and fixed ropes competition. First-place finishers will receive $7,000.

Registration for the event opened December 11, and team capacity was filled within eight days. The race is organized by a race management company called Infiterra Sports that coordinates such races across the Midwest.
