Les Cheneaux Students Get Book Donation From Local Businesses First grade students at Les Cheneaux Elementary in Cedarville received a set of "My Favorite Books," which were donated to the school by several area businesses. The 21 students will get to take the books home after they study the content in the books as part of their social studies education at the school in March. Teacher Jill McLeod said the theme of the books will complement studies about community helpers, friends, and manners, among other lessons. "My Favorite Books" contain lessons about manners, the importance of community, family and traditions, friends, following rules, different jobs, and also has a parent guide that offers suggestions for how to incorporate the book's lessons into family discussion. Island View Resort, Islands Inn Motel, Cedarville Foods, Autore Oil and Propane Company, Islands Insurance Center, and Dunn Hill Iron Works and Art Gallery donated the books to the first grade class. |
