Clark O'Brien

Clark Vincent O'Brien, 96, of Cedarville, was a United States Air Force World War II veteran who enjoyed a long career as a conservation officer. Mr. O'Brien died Thursday, January 11, 2007, at Mackinac Straits Hospital in St. Ignace.

He was born May 22, 1910, on Mackinac Island to Henry and Anna (nee Cetus) O'Brien. He grew up on Mackinac Island.

Mr. O'Brien served in United States Air Force during World War II, with service including flying the Burma/China Hump.

He then worked for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for 43 years, with 33 years as a conservation officer.

Mr. O'Brien was a former member of the Les Cheneaux Lions Club and the Les Cheneaux Sportsman's Club. He was one of a group of citizens who started Cedarville's annual Independence Day fireworks display. He was an avid golfer.

Mr. O'Brien is survived by his wife of 61 years, Luella Ruth (nee Oswald), one son and his family, Clark and Patricia O'Brien Jr. of Cedarville, one daughter and her family, Rebecca and Guy Autore Jr. of Cedarville, four grandchildren and their families, David O'Brien, Amy and Jason Smith, Guy Autore III, and Jeffery and Samantha Autore, and two greatgrandchildren, Jayden Smith and Zoe Autore.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Ray O'Brien, and by two sisters, Bernice Cook and Nuella Kath.

Services were held Monday, January 15, at Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford. Visitation took place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a funeral at 7 p.m. with Father Sebastian Chacko officiating.

Inurnment was in Cedar Cemetery in Clark Township.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Clark Township Fire Department.
