Timothy Ehle, a 1999 graduate of Rudyard High School, was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, Gamma Chapter, at Michigan State University in East Lansing in December 2006. He is planning a career in internal medicine and gastroenterology, following his prospective May 2007 graduation from Michigan State.
Alpha Omega Alpha is the only national honor medical society in the world. It elects outstanding medical students, graduates, alumni, faculty, and honorary members to its ranks, and offers its members various programs, awards, and scholarship opportunities.
Mr. Ehle was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and was reared in Rudyard. He attended Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, where he earned a bachelor's degree in biology. During his pre-clinical curriculum studies, he was a member of several organizations, including the Pediatrics and Family Practice interest groups, Christian Medical Association, American Medical Association, and American Academy of Physicians. He was also involved in the Big Sibs Program, which involved being a mentor for a first-year medical student. Mr. Ehle served as a student ambassador for Michigan State University's College of Human Medicine Office of Admissions, and he served as an interviewer for the college's admissions office, where he interviewed and evaluated prospective medical students.
During the clinical portion of his studies, Mr. Ehle has been involved in planning and conducting a health study in Munising, which involved administering a comprehensive health questionnaire. The focus of his study was rural obesity and the factors contributing to it. He has also served as an interviewer for the Upper Peninsula program, and as a mentor for a Northern Michigan University Pre-Medicine student.
Mr. Ehle continues to be involved with his home church in Rudyard. He earned an honors designation in a required, thirdyear clerkship for medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics, gynecology, and surgery.
His interests include weightlifting, hunting, fishing, hiking, baseball, and enjoying good coffee. He is a 2003 graduate of Central Michigan University, and he has worked with doctors Jeffrey Peterman, Joseph Garlinghouse, and Timothy O'Connor in Sault Ste. Marie, during a family practice rotation.
He is the son of Gerald and Wendy Ehle of Rudyard.
