DeTourWins First EUPC Game Since '02-03 Campaign

The DeTour Raiders snapped a 25-consecutive conference game losing streak with a 70-57 victory over Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference (EUPC) rival Pickford Tuesday, January 9. The Raiders' basketball losing streak began in the 2002-03 season.

The Raiders' last EUPC win came during the final game of the 2002-2003 season at Engadine, with Coach Alex Fisher.

"It has been a long time since our last win for the program," said Co-coach Craig Miller. "The coaching staff was pleased with the effort. We played hard for 32 minutes, and that is important."

The teams stayed close from the field as DeTour held a 50-48 edge, but the Raiders outscored the Panthers 20-9 from the free throw line. De- Tour made 24 field goals, two treys, and made 20 of 34 from the line (14 of 20 in the fourth quarter), while Pickford scored 21 field goals, recorded six triples, and shot nine of 19 from the free throw line.

DeTour led 16-7 after the first eight minutes and extended the lead to 35-22 at halftime with a 19- 15 margin before both teams scored 35 points in the second half.

Panthers Fall to Blue Devils

Pickford dropped a 70-38 nonconference basketball contest to Sault Ste. Marie Friday, January 12.

The Sault Blue Devils led 36-18 at halftime and outscored the Pickford Panthers 34-20 in the second half.
