Derusha Scores 31 for Eagles in 69-59 Victory Over Brimley
The senior scored eight in the first quarter, 11 in the second, two in the third, and 10 in the fourth to lift Engadine to a 4-4 overall record, 1- 1 in the EUPC. "We played well in three of four quarters on the road," said Eagles Coach Elmer Albright. The Eagles led 15-6 after the first eight minutes and outscored the Bays 21-17 in the second quarter for a 36-23 at halftime. Brimley stepped up its offense in the third quarter and cut the Engadine lead to 47-46 with a 23-11 advantage, and took a two-point lead early in the final period. "We got back into our offensive flow and ran our structured offense that we got away from in the third quarter," said Coach Albright. "We were patient with the ball and our defense stepped up in the fourth quarter." Engadine used a 22-13 margin to close out the c o n f e r e n c e game. The Eagles improved their record to 1-1 in the league and 4- 4 overall, while the Bays fell to 1-1 in the conference and 1-7 on the season.
