EUPC Volleyball Roundup

Pickford Sweeps Cedarville

Pickford's volleyball team opened the Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference on a successful note with a three-game sweep of rival Cedarville 25-19, 25-22, and 25-17 Thursday, January 11.

Panthers Stats: Melissa Kurchaczyk, 12 assists, one ace; Renae Reich, 11 assists; Veronica Gough, nine kills; Chelsey O'Connor, seven kills, four block kills, one ace, two attacks, two digs; Caitlin Mortinsen, three aces, six kills, three block kills; Courtney Bruni, three kills, one dig; Kristen Schmitigal, three digs.

Panthers Down Indians

Pickford lost the first volleyball match to Newberry 23-25, but came back to down the Indians 25- 14, 25-19, and 25-23 Monday, January 8.

Panthers Stats: Chelsey O'Connor, 14 kills, two aces, three block kills, two digs, one attack; Veronica Gough, nine kills, three digs, two aces, two attacks; Renae Reich, 23 attacks, two aces, one kill, one dig; Caitlin Mortinsen, seven kills, one block kill; Melissa Kucharczyk, 14 attacks, one ace, one kill; Brittany Kucharczyk, one kill, one attack, one dig; Courtney Bruni, two kills, one ace; Alli Priskhorn, two attacks.

Pickford travels to Brimley Thursday, January 18, and to Sault Ste. Marie Monday, January 22.

Bays Fall to Indians

Brimley fell to Newberry 16- 25, 14-25, and 23-25 during a nonconference volleyball match Thursday, January 11.

Bays Stats: Johanna Routhier, 14 kills; Courtney Amble, 12 assists; Miranda Rousseau, five aces.
