Luce-Mackinac Geneaology Society Seeking Information for New Book The Luce-Mackinac Genealogical Society is seeking information for a new book it is compiling, and has announced the completion of two new books about Sandtown Cemetery and Woodlawn Cemetery in Portage Township. The society is requesting information for a new book in progress, "Miscellaneous Burials and Cremations," that will memorialize people who were buried on private property or cremated, and do not have a tombstone in any cemetery. The society has recently revised the 1992 edition of a book about Portage Township cemeteries, and is now offering two separate books for sale about Sandtown Cemetery and Woodlawn Cemetery. The books contain all tombstone readings and information available through 2006. The Sandtown Cemetery was founded in 1903. Tombstone readings, a collection of obituaries, and tombstone photographs are included in the 52-page book, which can be obtained for $10 plus $3 for postage. The 15-page Woodlawn Cemetery book includes tombstone readings, without pictures or obituaries. It is available from the society for $5 plus $2 for postage. To send information for the new book, request a list of genealogy publications, or order either of the Portage Township cemetery books, contact the Luce-Mackinac Genealogical Society at Post Office Box 113, Engadine, Michigan 49827. |
