Wilson Elected to Board of Directors

Don Wilson

Former Pickford resident Don Wilson, owner and president of D. Beacom Insurance Agency in Pickford and Don Wilson Insurance Agency in Sault Ste. Marie, has been elected to the board of Fremont Michigan InsuraCorp, Inc.

Mr. Wilson was corporate secretary for Edison Sault Electric Company for 11 years prior to developing his agency in 1998. He has served as chairman of the Hudson Foundation and as a trustee for both Lake Superior State University Foundation and the City Seal Estate Trust in Sault Ste. Marie. He has also served with the United Way, Rotary Club, Sault Area Schools Board of Education, the Sault Ste. Marie Police and Fire Pension Board, and Chippewa County Community Foundation.

He and his wife of 30 years, Nancy, reside in Sault Ste. Marie and have two grown children, Lauren and Ian. Mr. Wilson grew up on a dairy farm in Pickford. His father sold insurance part-time for 33 years to supplement the family's farm income.

Mr. Wilson's two agencies have 10 employees. The D. Beacom agency has been a Fremont carrier since 1999.
