May 15 Is Candidate Filing Deadline for 3 City Council, Mayor Positions

While school and regional elections are being conducted May 8, St. Ignace city elections will be held later this year, when the terms of three council members and the mayor will expire. Candidate petitions need to be filed with the city clerk by 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 15.

The three council seats will be for four year terms and the mayor is elected for a two-year term. Council members Willie LaLonde, Merv Wyse, and Paul Fullerton and Mayor Paul Grondin all say they will seek new terms.

If they are challenged, the city will hold a primary election August 7. The general election is November 6.

Petition forms can be picked up at the clerk's office at City Hall.
