Herman Rowley

Herman H. Rowley of St. Ignace worked three years on the Mackinac Bridge construction project, between 1955 and 1958. He also worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps in the Lower Peninsula, and was a member of the Operating Engineers union.

Mr. Rowley died at age 92 Monday, April 30, 2007, in Cheboygan.

He was born March 16, 1915, in Ionia County, to Guy and Effie Rowley. He married the former Lily Short August 27, 1938, in Midland.

He moved from Oil City to St. Ignace in 1976.

He was an avid golfer and Detroit Tigers baseball fan.

Mr. Rowley is survived by three daughters and their families, Christal and Bob Marshall of St. Ignace, Myrna and Ron Wyman of Midland, and Linda and Wayne Boyle of National City; one brother, Charles Rowley; six grandchildren, and seven greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; three brothers, Guy, Raymond, and Ivan, and a sister, Sybil.

Visitation will be Friday, May 4, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Dodson Funeral Home in St. Ignace.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m., Friday, May 4, at the funeral home. Pastor Tari Stage-Harvey will officiate.

Burial will be in Gros Cap Cemetery in Moran Township.

Memorial donations can be made to American Cancer Society.
