Chris Binger, a junior at LaSalle High School in St. Ignace, received All-State First Team in Division 3 and the Golden Pin Award during the Michigan High School Interscholastic Bowling Coaches Association Banquet at Royal Scot Bowling Center in Lansing Sunday, April 22.
Binger averaged an overall score of 210 during the season and 212 in the Northern Michigan Bowling Conference. He recorded a high game of 279 and twogame series of 476.
David Carroll of Wyoming Kellogsville was named Mr. Bowler and Ashlee Mefford of Coldwater was named Miss Bowler.
Binger is considered a strong candidate for the top honor for his upcoming senior season.
"My goal is to make the dream team and compete for the Mr. Bowler Award," said Binger. "I need to be more consistent and have a better mindset."
Binger has continued to improve during his first three years on the Saints bowling team, averaging 170 as a freshman and 195 as a sophomore.
St. Ignace senior Derek Rutledge received All-State honorable mention after averaging 200 for the Saints with a high game of 254.
