Detroit Pistons-Shock Honor Dan Olsen as Scholar-athlete

LaSalle High School senior Dan Olsen was honored by the Detroit Pistons and Detroit Shock professional basketball teams and American Community Mutual Insurance as one of the top two scholar student athletes in Michigan.

He is the son of Brian and Trudy Olsen of St. Ignace.

Olsen, a member of LaSalle's National Honor Society, competed on the basketball court, baseball diamond, cross country course, track and field, and football field during his four-year high school career.

"Dan is an excellent student athlete who exhibits leadership, great work ethic, and commitment in the classroom and basketball court," said Saints b a s k e t b a l l Coach Doug Ingalls. "His strong senior leadership is evident, not only on the court, but in all aspects of school environment."

"Playing sports in high school has helped me become a better student by working hard and then showing the same dedication to my school work," said Olsen, who plans to attend Albion College and hopes to play basketball and major in pre-dentistry.
