St. Ignace Becomes Highlight on U-M Faculty Tour
St. Ignace was a stop on the statewide Michigan Road Scholars tour made by 30 University of Michigan faculty members Friday, May 4. The group visited Mackinac Fish Company to see the entrepreneurial efforts of owner Jill Bentgen and staff, had lunch at the Village Inn restaurant, and were treated to copies of The St. Ignace News and Mackinac Island Town Crier, which some of them are displaying in the photograph. Faculty members from all disciplines of the university make the trip by chartered bus to "get out and understand the history, culture, and economy of Michigan" to better relate to university students and their families, said guide Dana Sitzler. They visit highlights of the state and had also visited the Soo Locks and Traverse City during the week-long trip.
