U.P. Girl Scouts Seek Honorees

To celebrate 100 years of Scouting worldwide, the Girl Scouts of Peninsula Waters will honor everyone who has earned the highest award in Girl Scouting at a reception at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, in Escanaba.

The organization is seeking anyone who has received the following awards: Golden Eaglet from 1919 to 1939, Curved Bar from 1947 to 1963, First Class from 1964 to 1982, and Gold Award from 1982 to the present. Anyone who has received such an award, or knows someone who has an award, should call the Girl Scout Service Center at (800) 562-9787.

The reception will not only honor Girl Scouts, but also Boy Scout Eagle Award recipients. The reception is part of the Worldwide Scouting Centennial at the Upper Peninsula State Fairgrounds in Escanaba. Representative Bart Stupak, an Eagle Scout, is serving as honorary chairman of the event.
