St. Ignace Band Students Receive Awards

Musicians at St. Ignace Area Schools presented a spring concert Monday, April 30, in the LaSalle High School gymnasium. The concert was combined with the annual student awards ceremony. Students who received awards at the concert included the following:

Louis Armstrong Award for Jazz Band: Tyler McKerchie

Ellie Manette Award for Steel Drum Band: Colin Chan

John Phillip Sousa Award for High School Band: James Sayles

US Marine Corps Most Distinguished: Lee Kelso

Underclassman Leadership Award: Angela Cena

Kress Reavie Award: Haily St. Andrew

Samantha Day Award: Grant Simmons

The Megan Murphy Award was presented to the entire band class of 2012.

Most Improved Awards (voted on by peers): High School Band, Andrew Mullins; Junior High Band, Drew Duffie; Sixth Grade Band, Samantha Gugin; Fifth Grade Band, Zachary Phillips.

Most Valuable Performers (voted on by peers): High School Band, Colin Chan; Junior High Band, Nicole Elmblad; Sixth Grade Band, Molly Paquin; Fifth Grade Band, Gavin St. Onge.
