Melissa (nee Styes) Dockry of St. Ignace has accepted a full scholarship and graduate assistant teaching position at Central Michigan University. Mrs. Dockry was graduated from Lake Superior State University (LSSU) Saturday, May 5, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication.

Recently voted Outstanding Communications Graduate by the LSSU Communications Department, she received an award for her achievement at an honors breakfast at the Cisler Center, prior to commencement.

She earned cum laude status, and wore the associated yellow cord, an honor reserved for students who earn a 3.5 grade point average or higher.

Mrs. Dockry will pursue a master's degree in communication. She will begin a teacher training class in August, prior to beginning her own studies this fall. Mrs. Dockry will teach two freshman courses at the university.

Her husband, Tim Dockry, the owner of Doc's House of Magic on Mackinac Island, will work through the Island's tourism season and join his wife in Mount Pleasant this November.
