To promote health among young people, students from preschool through seventh grade exercised at St. Ignace Area Schools Wednesday, May 2, at 10 a.m.
It was part of a multi-national program called All Children Exercising Simultaneously (ACES), which involves the entire United States and 50 foreign countries. Local participating schools included St. Ignace, Gros Cap, Engadine, Mackinac Island, R.J. Wallis in Kincheloe, Brimley, Bois Blanc Pines, Drummond Island, and DeTour Elementary.
In Michigan, the program is coordinated by Governor Jennifer Granholm's Council on Physical Fitness, Health, and Sports and sponsored by Farm Bureau Insurance, which provided stickers, newsletters, and materials to plan the event.
