Summer CCSS Classes Offered; Deadline Is May 18

Consolidated Community Schools Services offers a full schedule of athletic activities for young people this summer, including baseball, softball, T-ball, and swimming. Youth soccer may not be offered this summer unless someone volunteers to coach the sport.

Participants must register for summer sports by Friday, May 18. Payment for swimming lessons is due the first day of lessons, and payment for ball leagues is due June 1.

Anyone interested in registering for the following programs can contact Kate Ter Haar at the Cedarville CCSS office, at (906) 484-2256, extension 5. Most activities and games will take place at Les Cheneaux Community Schools in Cedarville or the community ball fields in Hessel. Swimming lessons will be at the Rudyard Area Schools pool in Rudyard.

Baseball is offered to various ages, and coaches are needed for baseball teams. Anyone interested in coaching or registering for a team should call Joanne Baker at (906) 484-2256 or (906) 484-3190.

Recreational T-Ball is available for boys and girls entering kindergarten through age six. These games will played at the school. The $12 registration fee includes a T-shirt.

Recreational "Coach Pitch" is offered to boys and girls ages 7 and 8. Games will be played Tuesdays at 6 p.m. The registration fee of $20 includes a T-shirt.

Recreational Junior Youth Baseball is available to children ages 9 to 11. Youth ball is played under the same guidelines as Little League Baseball. The participation fee of $25 includes a T-shirt. Games will be played Monday and Thursday evenings.

Recreational Senior Youth Baseball is for children ages 12 to 14. Youth ball is played the same as Little League without the restrictions of uniforms, equipment, or fields. The fee of $25 includes a Tshirt. Games will be played on Monday and Thursday evenings.

Girls Fast Pitch is available for girls ages 11 to 14. Instruction will acquaint girls with the game of softball. The game schedule has yet to be determined, but organizers are planning Saturday games. The registration fee is $25, and includes a Tshirt.

Swimming lessons will be offered at the Rudyard Pool for children who have at least completed kindergarten. Transportation is included in the $50 registration fee. The bus will leave Cedarville High School at 8:15 a.m. and return at 10:30 a.m.
