Saints Junior High Track Team Sets Six Records

St. Ignace Saints girls junior high track and field team includes (not in order) Head Coach Amy Metz, Assistant Coach Colleen St. Louis, Samantha Morris, Kayal Fulgenzi, Torie Litzner, Nicole Elmblad, Megan Heidt, Alexa Thibault, Mikaela Kelly, Lori Luepnitz, Brittany Ellis, Nicki Johnston, Taylor Becker, Rachel Therrian, Grace Wheeler, Lauren Winkelman, Dakota McKerchie, Angela Fisher, Abby Chambers, Lauren Goldthorpe, Heather Beaudoin, Brooke Mattila, and Cassie Leveille.
Six St. Ignace junior high track records were broken during the meets at Sault Ste. Marie Monday, May 7, and during a meet in Pickford Saturday, May 12.

St. Ignace Girls Marks

Lauren Goldthorpe and Heather Beaudoin set new hurdle records for the Saints, with Goldthorpe in the 200-meter low hurdles in 35.3 and Beaudoin in the 55 high hurdles in 9.87.

Saints Boys Records

The St. Ignace boys 400-meter relay team of Austin St. Louis, Gunnar Zipp, Caleb Litzner, and Drew Duffie recorded a new mark with a time of 50.66 seconds. Also, Luke Thurston's shot put toss of 42'6.5" is a new Saints record, as well as Devin Chargo's 3200- meter run of 11:41:64 minutes and Caleb Litzner's 200-meter low hurdles finish of 28.64 seconds.

St. Ignace Saints boys junior high school track and field team includes (not in order) Head Coach Pat Chargo, Aaron Colegrove, Aaron Salvador, Austin St. Louis, Ben Idalski, Ben Paul, Brad Sayles, Brandon West, Caleb Litzner, Cole Christenson, Corey Moses, Corey Nelson, Curtis Gustin, Devin Chargo, Drew Duffie, Gage Christenson, Gage Litzner, Gunnar Zipp, Jacob Cullip, Joey Snowaert, John Eby, Justin Visnaw, Landon Oliver, Levi Thompson, Louis Radecki, Luke Thurston, Nate Montie, Patrick Sweeney, Ryan Marshall, Ryan Thompson, Shaun Horn, Taylor Closs, Tyler Chambers, Tyler Coveyou, William Pechta, and Zan Belonga.
The Saints girls and boys both placed third in the six-team event, with Petoskey winning for the girls with 139 points, followed by the Sault (118), and St. Ignace (97). In the boys division, Petoskey totaled 109 points, and Cheboygan and Sault tied for second with 103, followed by St. Ignace with 98 points.

Finishing first for the Saints were Heather Beaudoin in the hurdles, Mikaela Kelly in the 1600- meter run, Nicole Elmblad in the pole vault, Grace Wheeler in the high jump, Gunnar Zipp in the 100-meter dash, Drew Duffie in the 400, and Caleb Litzner in the low hurdles.

Placing second were Lauren Goldthorpe in the low hurdles and high jump, Austin St. Louis in the high jump, Ryan Marshall in the pole vault, and Luke Thurston in the shot put.

Finishing third were Taylor Becker in the 400-meter run, Alexa Thibault in the 200, Devin Chargo in the 3200 run, and Gage Christenson in the long jump.

Angela Fisher took fifth in the 1600-meter run, Becker finished fifth in the 800, and Beaudoin finished sixth in the 100.

The Saints boys 400- and 800- meter relay teams placed first and the 1600 and 3200 took third, while the girls' 1600-meter relay team finished second, and finished third in the 3200 and fourth in the 800.

At Pickford, the boys finished first and the girls second.

Results: Grace Wheeler- first in the 800-meter run, second in the high jump; Heather Beaudoin- first in the high hurdles, third in the low hurdles; Nicole Elmblad- first in the pole vault, sixth in the low hurdles; Mikaela Kelly- first in the 1600; Gunnar Zipp- first in the 100; Drew Duffie- first in the 400; Austin St. Louis- first in the high jump; Luke Thurston- first in the shot put; Caleb Litzner- first in the low hurdles.

Devin Chargo- second in the 3200-meter run; Taylor Beckerthird in the 400 and 800; Curtis Gustin- third in the high hurdles, sixth in the low hurdles; Martina Beaudoin-third in the 100; Alexa Thibault- third in the 200; Megan Heidt- fourth in the pole vault; Abby Chambers- fourth in the 100-meter dash; Brad Sayles- fourth in the 800; Nicki Johnston- fifth in the 100; Landon Marshall- fifth in the pole vault; Angela Fisher- sixth in the 1600; and Aaron Salvador- sixth in the shot put.

The Saints boys 400-, 800-, and 3200-meter relay team placed first and its 1600-meter team took third. The girls' 3200-meter relay foursome finished first and the 400-, 800-, and 1600-meter relay teams took second.
