Gould City The Engadine United Methodist Church in Engadine invites all children to join them at "Galilee-bythe Sea" Bible class Monday, June 11, through Friday, June 15. The church will be transformed into the seaside village of Galilee. Each day the group will divide into small groups and come together for singing, and then explore traditional family life. The children will also explore a Galilee-by-the- Sea marketplace. They may become an apprentice carpenter in the carpentry shop, or make toy boats in the toy-making shop. They will witness live dramas in the center of town, chat with shopkeepers about what Jesus did, and discover what it was like to live in the times Jesus lived. They're asking parents to plan on special activities Friday. Registration is Monday, June 11, at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday through Friday sessions will start at 10 a.m. For more information, and for transportation, call (906) 477-6766. The Engadine United Methodist Church is inviting everyone to a free community meal Wednesday, May 30, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the church. A bouncing house and piñata will be offered for children at 5:30 p.m. St. Vincent De Paul in Manistique will open soon at a new location on Cedar Street. Feneley, McNeil, Nesbit American Legion Post 290 is having an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast Sunday, May 27, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Engadine Township Hall. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children age 6 to 12, and free for children age 5 and younger. Abenefit dinner for the Dimmer family is planned for Saturday, June 23, at 5 p.m. in the gymnasium of the St. Francis de Sales School in Manistique. The Dimmers lost their son and home to a fire in early April. They did not have insurance. All donations are accepted. A live auction and raffle will be offered. Donations may also be dropped off at Southeastern Dedicated, 321 Deer Street, next to Midwest Sound and Security in Manistique. Engadine Consolidated Schools will host an open house Wednesday, May 23, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Our prayers have been answered, as our nephew, Chris, from New York, has finally returned home, safe and sound, after his tour of duty in Afghanistan.
